Atkins Kroll launches first-ever Toyota Tundra hybrid

(Tamuning, Guam) Celebrated for years as one of the most long-lasting, dependable and durable full-sized pick-up trucks, the Toyota Tundra has continued to live up to its trustworthy reputation. But a truly exciting development has arrived that will surely rock Guam’s roads: the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX, Toyota’s premiere hybrid pick-up truck.

“We at AK are tremendously excited to introduce the Tundra hybrid. AK and Toyota place extreme value on both innovation and environmentally friendly practices and the i-FORCE MAX is the perfect combination of these principles. It is a true testament to Toyota’s endless desire to propel the automotive world forward and we’re thrilled to offer it our island’s drivers,” said Alex Yap, Atkins Kroll president.

In a time of rising fuel costs, the arrival of the Tundra hybrid could not be more fitting. Why should you sacrifice your needs that only a full-sized truck can fulfill because you want to save money on gas? With the i-FORCE MAX, you don’t have to. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Tundra is certified for 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway or 22 mpg in combined driving.

The third-generation Tundra is equipped with several upgraded and new features, many of which come standard across its various trims. At first glance, the truck’s bulging fenders, chiseled front, elongated LED headlights and massive grille create a striking appearance that sets the 2022 model apart from its predecessors. The all-new, rust-resistant cargo bed is aluminum-reinforced and made of a Sheet-Molded Composite surface, making it less susceptible to dents and dings. Toyota’s Deck Rail System includes four adjustable tie-down cleats and fixed cargo bed tie-down points for maximum security for your gear during transportation. Plus, when your hands are full, the Tailgate Release Bump Switch opens the bed for you with a simple bump to the driver’s side taillight. Also new is the fully boxed high-strength steel ladder frame the Tundra is built on, enhancing rigidity and capability.

Taking durability to a whole new level, the i-FORCE MAX is armed with larger frame cross members making it the most durable body-on-frame hauler to come out of the Toyota Texas assembly line. While built tough, the Tundra also offers a smooth and even ride for passengers with its transition from leaf-spring suspension to multilink suspension with coil springs for improved comfort, handling, and stability whether you’re on or off the road.

The i-FORCE MAX’s receptive 10-speed automatic transmission paired with its 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine, designed with new hybrid technology for improved performance, generate a whopping 437-horsepower with 583 pounds-feet of torque. The hybrid drivetrain uses a nickel-metal hydride battery pack located under the rear seat. The electric motor, positioned between the engine and transmission, allows power to be transferred smoothly without delay.

The combined strength of the powertrain, frame, and suspension allows the Tundra to have a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and carrying capacity of 1,940 pounds, a notable improvement to the previous maximum towing capacity of 10,200 pounds and carrying capacity of 1,730 pounds. This is great news for drivers who need to do heavy-duty hauling. Toyota’s Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist uses sensors and cameras to help keep your trailer straight as you reverse.

More of the Tundra’s impressive technology is evident when taking a look inside the cab. The i-FORCE MAX’s 14-inch audio multimedia touchscreen is a feature users can appreciate right off the bat. Horizontally oriented for better visibility and operation, the touchscreen displays high-resolution graphics and user-friendly menu options as well as syncs to the Tundra’s multiple cameras that are installed around its body. A bonus convenience is an intuitive voice recognition system for quick results to the driver’s commands. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity come standard in the i-FORCE MAX, making this truck more technologically fortified than ever.

Adding comfort to connectivity, the Tundra’s modern interior design includes heated and ventilated front and rear seats and an improved positioning of the driver’s seat to operate the full-sized Tundra with confidence. These features, along with a pleasantly quiet cabin, make the Tundra the ideal vehicle for long-distance journeys with the family.

That being said, Toyota continues to keep passenger safety at the highest priority, equipping the 2022 Tundra with standard Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.5. The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection uses both a camera and radar to alert the driver of a possible collision. If the driver does not respond, the system automatically brakes. Further, the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist senses lane markings and alerts the driver of lane departure while the Lane Tracing Assist keeps the vehicle centered within a lane. Also included in the TSS 2.5 is the Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control that not only can run between 25 to 110 mph but also uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control. When driving in unfamiliar or dimly lit areas, Road Sign Assist can be especially helpful by detecting speed limit signs, stop signs, Do Not Enter signs, and yield signs and presenting them on the Multi-Information Display. Automatic High Beams give the driver better visibility at night at speeds above 25 mph. This system can also detect headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of passing vehicles and switches between high and low beams accordingly. With the responsive assistance of the intelligent TSS 2.5, consumers can have ease and assuredness on the road.

The list goes on but the real first impression is made in person. Atkins Kroll invites the public to visit the Toyota showroom to meet the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX and experience the many possibilities it brings to Guam’s drivers.
